Walker Mill Regional Park is a 504-acre, regional destination park situated within the Capital Beltway in Prince George’s County, Maryland, offering an exceptional balance of active recreation, natural beauty, and community gathering spaces. Serving as one of the County’s most expansive and versatile park settings, Walker Mill Regional Park provides residents and visitors with a welcoming environment for play, fitness, relaxation, and outdoor exploration.
The park is thoughtfully divided into two distinct areas. The South Side (247 acres) is fully developed. It features a wide array of modern recreational amenities and supporting infrastructure, making it a hub for organized sports, family activities, and community events. In contrast, the North Side (257 acres) preserves a largely wooded and historic landscape, offering a more natural park experience while setting the stage for future cultural, educational, and ecological enhancements that will further expand the park’s role as a regional asset.

Playground & Splash Features
The park’s Woodland Wonderland Playground is a themed play destination designed for children ages two to twelve. It features swings, slides, climbing structures, and interactive play elements that encourage creativity and physical activity. During summer, misting pads and splash features provide a fun and refreshing way for children and families to cool off.
Skate Park
The skate park is a purpose-built facility designed for skateboards, inline skates, and BMX riders. Featuring ramps and rails, the park supports riders of varying skill levels, providing a safe, designated space for skill development, creativity, and active youth engagement.
Athletic Fields
Walker Mill Regional Park offers a robust lineup of athletic facilities, including two lighted softball fields, one lighted baseball field, and a synthetic turf football/soccer field. These fields support league play, practices, tournaments, and community use, with lighting and turf surfaces allowing for extended hours and year-round programming.
Basketball Courts

With more than seven miles of hiking and walking trails, Walker Mill Regional Park offers routes ranging from easy to moderate difficulty. Picnic Areas & Pavilion
The park features a large, reservable shelter equipped with barbecue grills, making it an ideal setting for family outings, celebrations, reunions, and community gatherings. The pavilion is available for reservation during peak season and provides a comfortable, shaded space for group events.
