Book and Film Discussion: Red at the Bone
Wednesday, February 8 & 15, 2023, 7 pm
Red at the Bone (2016) by Jacqueline Woodson, is a novel about a contemporary family saga that is alive with echoes of the Tulsa fire-bombing, Black migration to northern cities, feminism, educational webs, the intimate losses of 9/11, and generational tensions. Participants are encouraged to read the book beforehand; this slim volume is packed with events ripe for discussion. Led by Dr. Karen Arnold, join us to read and discuss this page-turner. This event is ticketed.
Montpelier Arts Center is OPEN to the public! Visitors can explore the three galleries housed inside. The Montpelier Arts Center introduces changing exhibitions by local and national visual artists. Gallery hours are Sunday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm (closed major holidays). Admission is free, and masks are mandatory at all times.
Located on the grounds of the historic Montpelier Mansion, the center also houses artist studios, a metal casting facility, gas- and electric-fired kilns, a digital lab, and classrooms.
We offer visual, literary, and performing arts experiences for children to adults; beginners to advanced. Our creative spaces are designed to inspire artists to work in a variety of mediums including printmaking, sculpture, painting, ceramics, and more.
