Kaboom! Playground at Bladensburg Community Center
M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County, and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, in partnership with KABOOM!, will be building a new kid-designed playspace at Bladensburg Community Center for kids ages 2-12 in Prince George’s County to have a place to jump, slide, and PLAY! The existing playspace at Bladensburg Community Center is 20 years old and is heavily used by both the community center patrons and the surrounding community. The new playspace will include play equipment for ages 2-5 and 5-12, a new multisport court, and additional site enhancements.
The playspace that’s built here will be 100% community-designed. To do that, we need community input! What do you want to see in your play space? Please complete the survey below and share your ideas!
Currently, the project is in the Community Engagement phase. Join us at an upcoming community meeting to share your playful ideas or come volunteer with us on Build Week!

Meet Our Project Partners
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation
Created in 2013, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards; Capital City Go-Go; Wizards District Gaming; and Caps Gaming. MSE Foundation is committed to making the region a better place for all by supporting game-changing solutions for our community. We fundraise, provide grants to nonprofits and rally MSE’s teams and fans to support and amplify the impact of community change agents. Together, we’re raising the game in the DMV.
This will be the seventh playground in the Washington metropolitan area that MSE Foundation has partnered with KABOOM! to build.
KABOOM! is the national nonprofit that works to end playspace inequity for good. They define playspace inequity as a lack of access to and a sense of belonging in quality playspaces due to the effects of systemic racism in communities across the country. They are working to end playspace inequity by uniting with communities to build kid-designed playspaces that spark joy and foster a sense of belonging for communities of color who disproportionally have less access to play where they learn and live.
