Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad

Saturday, October 26, 2019

Join us as we travel to Romney, West Virginia, to ride the B&O 722. Our journey begins at Wappocomo Station, situated next to a charming homestead and a sprawling view of the mountains. Enjoy the sounds of vintage diesels as they lead us through beautiful pastures and farms dating back to the 1700s. As we wind along the South Branch of the Potomac River, we’ll enter a visually striking gorge known as the Trough. One of the most scenic spots along the South Branch, the Trough is home to American bald eagles.

This excursion is a 3-hour trip that goes southbound through the Trough to Sycamore Bridge and back, approximately 35 miles round-trip. There is no layover; we will stay onboard, with our seats in the Club Cars where lunch (included) will be provided. These climate-controlled lounge cars, Chesapeake and Ohio’s Chessie Club, feature couch/loveseat-style seating with tables, invoking memories of the long-gone days of luxury rail travel. This classic look is complemented by Chesapeake & Ohio railroad china and tableware, just as was done years ago.

For lunch, you will select either beef tenderloin, chicken cordon bleu, teriyaki grilled salmon, or stuffed eggplant parmesan. Each meal consists of three courses, with the third dessert course being served on the return trip. Bird watchers and photographers can enjoy the views from the train’s observation cars.
